A Unit Bathtub is a standard square shaped Bathtub that is built into the ground. It became the most common bathtub by the late 20th century especially in modern Japanese Ofuros.

Design Variations

It is similar to a Skirted Bathtub popular in the west but the inside has right-angled corners instead of curved ones in the ovular skirted variant. A Curved Bathtub is a unit bathtub variant which is not straight square and more of a wide curved shape on one end.
